Getting Back into Things - 12-03-2003
In light of the work in progress known as 'Forgotten Heroes', I took some advice from Robert Rodriguez and decided to go ahead and make a trailer for it so that I can get my blood pumping for that project again. The only problem is I'm still awaiting to make music with Angel for the actual movie so I decided today just to go ahead and make a song specific to the trailer that will follow along the lines of the movie's score. This happens tomorrow, hopefully.

Forgotten Heroes Trailer - 12-09-2003
Yesterday we finally got started on the music for the ''Forgotten Heroes'' Trailer(previously said we were gonna start on the 4th). Yet again, Angel did an amazing job but we ran out of time before I could here it all mixed together. He said he''d go to the recording room during first hour the next day so I could start editing.

Today. I got to the TV lab and it was already playing. He is truely a gifted SOB. Mr. Salo, the band teacher, didn''t believe he had mixed it with the school''s equipment.

I started editing the trailer, after getting into it I realized the second half of the song needed to be more aggressive so I could show a bunch of quick clips without ruining the movie because it is only a 15 minute long movie. So tomorrow we are just gonna speed up the french horns on the second half.

Also pertaining to the movie, I started working on the poster, there was the one night we were filming at Markham Park but got kicked out. The footage from that night was just gonna be scratched, but after reviewing Tim's behind the scenes tape we noticed some really cool stills with the smoke and everything. So this will serve as the stills for the poster, so the night wasn't a waste after all. I think I'm going to have to tone down the poster a bit, it's a little busy.

Progress Update - 12-29-2003
The past couple nights I have stayed up late editing the flashback scenes together for 'Heroes' so that we can move on to the present day scenes. Mainly I have been adjusting sound and adding effects where needed(i.e. muzzle flashes). When it comes to the trailer, I have stopped half way through it because the second half of the music needs to be re-mixed by Angel a bit before I continue to edit.

Re-Shooting... finally. - 01-15-2004
This weekend we are graced with three days off of school. So Sunday and/or Monday I will be devoting my time to finishing 'Forgotten Heroes'. Due to problems getting my grandpa down for the part of the present-day man I will be using Jake's dad instead. I still might use my grandpa for the narration, but we'll see what happens.

Bus Stop Shoot Changed - 01-18-2004
Tomorrow we are set to film the rest of the 'Forgotten Heroes' present day footage. We were originally set to do it today, and it's a good thing we didn't because its all rainy out and thats not what I wanted.

Forgotten Heroes Complete - 01-27-2004
Today I spent a good 9 hours putting the final touches to Forgotten Heroes. Today was the deadline for the West Palm Beach Film Fest so I had to get it done in order to drive out there to drop it off. Last year the only thing I submitted was 'Balancing Damages', what a joke.

Last saturday we managed to film Jake's dad for the bus stop stuff. Due to some complications regarding lack of help we were unable to do the scene of him actually getting onto the bus. So we scrapped it. The funny thing is, in the origional draft of the script the man was supposed to wait at the bus stop, get on the bus, then arrive at the VA hospital where the movie would end with him watching the news talking about the war in Iraq. So much for the script. Now all the present day stuff just takes place at the bust stop, and I feel now that it is probably better this way to not over complicate it.

After already having that cut together the following needed to get done today. We had to score the rest of the movie, record gunshots from Mike's PS2, write narration, record the narration, edit in the score, narration, gun shot noises, and do the credits. By 5:30 I finished. Which would have been bad if they hadn't extended the due date for the admissions to thursday.

I'm feeling really good at the moment though, because we started this movie about 9 months ago and for the longest time I would just watch the same scenes over and over and the movie just felt duller and duller. Now that it has all the pieces put together I now feel we have a really good movie where everything makes sense. Which is good considering a final draft of the script was never written.

Now I am going through all the behind the scenes and raw footage I have to get Tim started on the documentary stuff.

Forgotten Heroes Premiere - 02-21-2004
Thursday we finally showed the school the movie. There had been much anticipation leading up to this from our new weekly segment called 'The Project' people were really emphatic about watching it which is awesome. After everyone saw it throughout the day I heard nothing but great things.
